Hi, my name is Ryan Elizabeth

and I am a mixed media artist. I dabble in many mediums including (but not limited to), various kinds of paints and pencils, collage, clay, photo, and graphic design. I am originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, where I attended school for art, learning most of what I know. Currently I reside in Denver, Colorado where I work out of my home or any place that inspires me. I tend to find inspiration in ways I don't expect it. For instance, I might expect something like being in nature to inspire nature related art, but I often find that it's just the silence that allows me to listen to what I am really trying to say. Art is my way of expressing myself. Art gets me through life. Art is who I am. I hope you see a bit of yourself in what I create too.

Why I'm an artist,

Redefining normal.

Growing up, I knew I wanted to do something creative with my life. I never really pictured myself going to college or getting a 9-5. I found school incredibly difficult and stressful. For years I spent everyday just hanging onto the next. Being diagnosed with sensory processing disorder, making me neuorodivergent (meaning my brain functions differently than a typical persons), changed my life. I learned that with how I function, I needed a life suited to my needs, and built around what I'm passionate about.

Life Outside Art

In my free time I am a dog and plant mom. I keep both house plants year round, and an outdoor flower garden in the summer. I love watching my plant babies grow. My dog is a yellow lab named Cosmo who loves to steal the attention from everyone else in the room. I'm currently taking sewing classes, adding to my extensive creative passions. I listen to a lot of music (follow me to find out what I'm listening to @ ryan elizabeth on Spotify). I find songs and artists that inspire me constantly. I enjoy an occasional book, and I love to write.

Getting through life

Art & Coping

Most of my art is based in emotion, even the silly things. My fruit series was initially an attempt to simply expel the way that I was feeling. Strawbby was the first to be born, and I resented it. I hid the painting and didn't look at it until I was hanging things on my walls a while later. Everyone who saw it hanging in my room commented on it and how odd it made them feel. I began to see something special about it. I used to struggle with describing what this series meant to me, but reflecting on it my reaction to the piece said more than I could've put into words. Since this Strawberry was a reflection of me, I was resenting the way I had been seeing myself, a child forced to grow up, a child who desperately wanted to stay just that. I often have trouble finding words for the way my own art makes me feel, I don't even know quite what I am feeling in the moment, I just know whatever it is, needs to be felt and this is the way to do that. Something like my candy heart series though, provides a completely different kind of emotional support. Instead of needing to get the pent up feelings out, something simple and lighthearted like that provides comic relief, and a way to shut out feelings when I can't handle them. Art gives me a voice when I don't know how else to communicate and something to lean on when I need it.

Inclusivity & Equality

As a neurodivergent person, I do my best to make sure that my products are comfortable and accessible. Whether it be the way my products actually feel (i.e. how soft my clothing is), or in the fact that most of my products are dryer/dishwasher safe (for more information, refer to my descriptions), I want to make sure it doesn't require you any extra money or time past your purchase to care for your item. You may notice the absence of gendered clothing sections in my store. I try to keep my products as neutral as possible knowing that gender is a spectrum. I have products ranging up to 5XL in size. If you are concerned about sizing, please refer to the charts provided in the descriptions of each product as they offer detailed measurements. My goal is to make sure everyone feels included regardless of size, race, gender or orientation. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to reach out using the the contact button at the top of the page, or the button below this paragraph. I always appreciate feedback on my business and an opportunity to grow as a person.
